Trash Bash is a new annual festival in the Southeast for all things garage, trash, and rock and roll in Gainesville, Florida. It's put together by Waylon and Meg Thorton from diy label White Moon Records and their band Waylon Thornton and the Heavy Hands. The fest would have close to twenty bands from Florida, Georgia, and Alabama rock the fuck out over two nights.

The first night would be at Gainesville diy venue Wayward Council, which is an info/record/zine shop by day and music venue by night. Two piece Orlando band Magic and the Johnsons would lead things off primitive style and banged out a fun set. The rest of the bands of the night were all from Gainesville. Nervous Systems would follow with some excellent songs. St Dad were prolly the most trashiest band of the weekend. They were obnoxious as they played an improv set with help from Sam from Magic and the Johnsons on a Howard combo organ. They were just noisy and cleared the room. Space rockers Savages also played. As did Oh Fortuna, who now have a drummer- a good thing! I missed Ex-Boogeymen for the second time. I heard they ripped.

During all this was the Gainesville chapter of the Shotgun Heard Around the World Party, held simultanesously around the world including Atlanta, San Franciso, Orlando, Chicago, NYC, Milaukee, Pittsburg, Denton, Seattle, Austin, Oakland, Vancouver, Boston, Miami among others. Right at 11pm EST our small group inside Wayward shotgunned beers connected to everyone else via cell phones.
