Right after that last entry I speeded my way home to change clothes. Then sped all the way out to the House of Blues for the Pistis show. I was a little bit late. Michelle was already there talking with Owen , Blair, Shannon, Davin and a couple of other peeps that didn't like Stereolab (whatever!). We stood outside for a while cos these horrid opening bands were playing. The show was one of these local band showcases they have once a week. They really don't match up bands properly - just total random pairings. And tonights show had three bands opening before Pistis went on. But because Pistis went on at midnight not everyone could stay. People left, including Michelle.
I went inside with Owen and Blair and we were being silly making fun of this band "jennyanderson" - yeah, they spell it all lowercase. AND there's no girl named Jenny Anderson in the band either. All guys there. They were like a Matchbox20 band but with bad, out of tune crooning. But the singer had rock star (thai chi?) moves. They were freaking hilarious. They seemed to play forever. After them a funk band called 11 Red Apples went on. We sat down and miserated until they were over. No, they weren't that bad. they just didn't seem to stop playing.
Finally, Pistis came on around midnight. A lot of the crowd had left (not because of Rence's hair I hope); it was getting late after all. Rence was sporting a full-blown Spock hair cut. Rence and Josh had more lineup changes - they added a second guitar player and a new drummer. He was a funk drummer. It made for a interesting change. Come to think of it I've never seen them use the same drummer twice. They started off with "Cordless Moon" from their Bread & Circuses CD. Josh seemed to be getting shocked from the microphone so after the song he pulled the sock off his foot, put the sock on the mic and put his shoe back on. Haha. He sang into a sock for the rest of the show. He didn't even apologize to all the singers who will have to sing in that mic in the future. The band didn't play for very long - maybe five or six songs. It was still good. It occured to me as I was driving home I had met Blair before.
