I got to Sapphire a little late. Doors were at 6pm. I leave the house about 6:20. Five minutes to downtown, four to park, two to walk.

[ Denison Marrs ]

Denison Marrs had already started their set. I don't think I missed much of it. Denison Marrs just gets better everytime I see them. They did a bunch of new songs not on their album. Very good heavy space rock. They ended with their cover of Real Life's "Send Me An Angel" which is on thier brand new 7" on Velvet Blue Recordings.

If it weren't for Ashtray Babyhead I may have not even gone to the show. Those boys are awesome and they delivered some serious fun. Their singer is muy guapo for a boy :) For having two hours of sleep he sure boogied and jumped around. They were sweet and sang about girls and stuff. All the little high school girls were up front, nudging each other and sighing at the rock and roll boy jumping in the air. They were good and will make good rockstars - think Weezer, The Stereo, etc.

And then came The Juliana Theory. Most people I know either love them like love itself, others hold them to disdain. You can see the anger get in their eyes with just a mention of the name. Both reactions are pretty hilarious. I personally dig their first CD. I've been known to put them on mix tapes for friends. But to see them live is, um, something else. I don't know if those guys are serious about the way they perform or if they are trying to be the Spinal Tap of the emo world. If you've ever seen Juliana Theory live you know what I mean. I can't help but to laugh. Maybe it's the butt-jiggeling lead singer. Or that the guitar player has the same "condition" the Elliott guy has. This time they weren't all dressed in black - the singer wore a BLUE shirt. He still had the tight ass (sic) pants, though. Don't get me wrong - they are rocking out and play some powerful music. How can anyone take the silliness seriously. Girls were screaming for autographs and clothes to come off. It works for All About Chad, not TJT. What the heck was that last song? It lasted a half an hour! It went absolutely nowhere! The crowd got either sleepy or annoyed, I couldn't tell which. No applause was given for an encore. Sorry, guys!

I was happy to see Michelle. I had wanted to call her earlier in the day to see if she was going but, ya know, no phone! Today was Bjorks birthday, did you know?
