I only went to this to see the first and last bands: The Macabees and 12 Hour Turn. I didn't know who the other bands were. I knew Fox Force Five was a Pulp Fiction reference. Almost saying the bands is a tongue twister! Try saying "Fox Force Five" and "Forced Fed Glass" five times fast. See? You can't. The show was at the The Red and Black Shack, a house out in east Orlando, in an almost rural area. The house was small. It had a big yard with a half-pip for skating and they had free food. I went by myself. I wasn't comfortable with doing that. I did see two people I knew: Andrew gave me the Mathlete tape he was holding for me and Rich talked about getting Flux Capacitor a show down here. I also met another person so it wasn't feeling too akward the whole time. The Maccabees were first. I had seen them the week before and they were awesome. I couldn't recognize if the songs they played were the same ones. I think they only did one from the CD. The next band was Forced Fed Glass. Jesus, they were hardcoremetal for sure. The bass player was jumping around so hard I thought he was going to go through the floor. I saw the singers ass! He was only wearing boxers and the audience kept pulling them down. Kill The Man Who Questions were another hardcore band. They were loud, had two singers - a guy and a girl. I couldn't hear the girl at all. They were on the political side so they talked inbetween songs about "the scene" and what magazines they found offensive and and the girl gave a speil about girls in "the scene". They seemed pretty intolerant. They had one song called "No Forgivness." It was a turn off. Fox Force Five were pretty loud. I can't remember anything more about them. Jacksonvilles' 12 Hour Turn was last. I'd only seem them once before and I thought they were amazing. A nice mix of hardcore, indie and math rock. I enjoyed them again, well worth waiting through three hardcore bands. Even if they only played for a little over fifteen minutes. |
