Who: Excercises In Breathing, The Keith Welsh Band, Pistis, Snowden. Where: DIY Records - Winter Park, FL. When: Monday October 25, 1999. What I Wore: clothes and an ambulance wig.

Wednesday January 5, 1999.

There was a show tonight at DIY Records. I wanted to go but I really didn't want to go by myself. I paged Lisa. She was having a extra good happy day so she was up for it. She, Michelle and Owen came to pick me. More people = yay.

Ohhhh, my friend Michelle is in this months issue of Teen People, the one with Britney Spears on the cover. Check it out next time you're near a newsstand. It's near the very back, like, in the last four of five pages. It says Dr. Phillips on the page somewhere. I'd be more specific but I don't have it with me.

We got to DIY Records a little after 8:30 and missed the first band Snowden. I saw the last thirty seconds. I just saw they had a cute girlie singer with sparkly jeans. I think they are from Orlando and have ex-Carlisle people in it. I shall have to catch them play next time because now I am really curious about them.

Ohmigosh..... the next band was from North Carolina. They were so so so so so so cute I wanted to pinch their cheeks and take them home with me. Christina Thompson and Scott Smith are Exercises In Breathing and if they aren't the cutest then I don't know anything. Scott plays guitar and Christina plays trombone. They both sing. Their songs were quiet with Scotts strumming. It reminded me of Nord Express and Spatula. The trombone playing fit perfect. It appeared they thought they weren't confident. They'd say "oh, use pillows, go to sleep" and look around the room all embarrassed. They really didn't have to Pistisworry about that. Everyone was loving them. It was more cute points to their favor. They ended with a funny song called "Stewie's Car" all about this cool guys cool car and how they prayed every night for a car like Stewie's. Everyone should get their CD. It's been reissued by No Karma. Needless to say I like them a lot and even sport an Excersises In Breathing sticker on my car.

Next up was Orlandos Pistis. I've heard good things about them but they hadn't played at any shows I had been too. I was told they do Keith Welshacoustic shows with the two core members and rockin'weird shows with lots of friends. They were doing an acoustic/quiet show tonight. They had a guitar player and the other guy, sitting in a plush cushion seat, played keyboard and bass. I thought they were all right. The bass playing was very cool.

The finale was Keith Welsh and the Keith Welsh Band. Keith Welsh is this big tough looking guy and he sings the saddest/sweetest songs. I think he's lives in Gainesville. I could be wrong. He did some songs on acoustic guitar to start with and then went electric, adding drums and bass. Then later added another guitar player and they rocked out.
