Cursive, Planes Mistaken For Stars, Small Brown Bike

I still can't make sense of last night. I keep having these either great days or really bad ones. It makes being entertaining difficult. Last night was both. Lynne picked me up for the show, got Michelle and she drove us. I've had so much anticipation to seeing Cursive play for the first time. I was a tad more excited about Planes Mistaken For Stars because they are incredible live. This show got switched around between dates and venues and it ended up being at Barbarella. The problem with Barbarella is they have bands play out back on their patio, open to the elements. It was really freeking cold and I wasn't dressed for it. It wasn't even club night so the inside part was empty. I was not having a good time being in such temperatures. The bands didn't either apparantly. It got colder that later it got. Brrrrrrrr.

Planes Mistaken For Stars went first. They may look like scummy guys but believe me, appearances are deceiving. They are so incredibly rocking and you will be hard pressed to find a more intense live show. They opened with the scortching "Scratching Rounds" with yelling and screaming. I wished they would do that Unbroken cover again like last time. Not this show.

Cursive went on next. They were awesome. Not as good as I imagined in my head but still. They tore through several from the Domestica album including "The Martyr" and a mind blowing "The Casualty". Whooo. That's what I say. Tim has the Moogerfooger ring modulator effect I have been saving up for months and months (they are pretty expensive). I was drooling. It was the first time I heard one in a live setting. I am excited more than ever about getting mine.

We left during Small Brown Bike. I still think they are pretty nondescript. Watching them after seeing two bands I love, well, It was a hard act to follow. Anyway, by then I had gotten in such an isolated mood I had to remove myself from the rest of everyone and the crowd. I was relieved to get home and crawl into bed.
