The new order made The Music Tapes the first band. The Music Tapes is a brainchild of Julian Koster, formerly of Chocolate USA. They even have a singing television as a member of the band. I will not even try to explain the teevee. You wouldn't believe me anyway! I will say it sang and played keyboards.... The crowd all sat down for Four Head, a drums and bass outfit from Gainseville. It was just one guy, Mike Pecchio, who had a setup of keyboards, computer, real tape loops (He would change them during songs!), drum machines and guitar that sounded like something from a My Bloody Valentine record. It blaringly stood out from being "pop" but was enjoyable. I even asked Jason after he introduced himself: "Did he say Flowchart? It doesn't sound like Flowchart." "no, something like Forehead." "oh." |

| Crush 22 were soooo adorable! They were one of the fill in bands with the drop out of Gumption and Flowchart. They had been playing shows in Gainseville and this show was to be their last because they were breaking up, which is too bad because their music is so encapivating and sweet. |

Congratulations are always amazing. Always. Did I mention always? They played mostly the new material other than "Windows 67" and another on that escapes me as I write this (was it the whistling song?)... They are super 60's tinged singalong Moog pop, veering into the full fun mode of the indiepop world. I kept myself from yelling out "Hot Air Balloon..."
After Congratulations I wandered over to the merch table where Kim was and saw that Congratulations were selling Congratulations Cereal. Too funny, they had no releases at the time (they do now have a 12" on Blackbean and Placenta). They were just those little boxes of cereal decorated up Congratulations style.

I asked who was up next as I lost track of who had played yet. I was told Masters of the Hemisphere were playing. I was "nooooo way!" I had no clue they were added. I love the Masters! I jerked up and looked towards the stage and there they were! "ohmigods" were in order and I went back upfront to enjoy the best performance of the night. They used borrowed equipment including a "nasty RAT distortion pedal." They made shirts on the spot using Kmart paint; and were even selling the x-acto knife and stencil used on the shirts! Too cute!

Ahhhh the Gerbils.... what would you expect from a band called the Gerbils? They were four big geeky-looking men that had high squeaky voices, adolescent boy/girl lyrics and a lot of rock! heehee. They were the Gerbils!

It's a shame I was exhausted by the time Racecar played. I was too tired to do anything but just stand there thinking about all the sleep I had missed this weekend.... They had a fun set.

I'm not too big on Neutral Milk Hotel. They were too loud for my dizzy head and I went and stood in the back and watched the Popfest come to a close.
Everyone said their goodbyes and left. Kim, Jason, Traci and I went out to the late night eating establishments before ending up at Denny's. We didn't get back to Kim's until after 4:30 am. I ended up staying in Tallahassee until Monday morning hanging out, going to the flea market (i got another ukele), going to the V89 radio station meeting, playing Jumbo and Parcheesi at Waterworks. Fun Fun! I even visited my grandma, who fed me like grandmas should :) I also stopped by the shop to see my grandpa and Uncle Kevin.
The weekend was so much fun.
The End.
